UTIs

What we can help with

  • Uncomplicated UTIs

Burning, stinging and frequency in women who are otherwise well. Often treatable after a phone assessment.

  • Recurring UTIs

Getting UTIs again and again? Your GP can look for causes and arrange tests.

  • Urine tests

A pathology request for a urine test when it's needed to choose the right treatment.

  • UTIs in men

UTIs are less common in men and usually need a closer look. Your GP will advise on tests.

  • Prevention advice

Practical steps that can lower the chance of another infection.

  • Time off work

A medical certificate, emailed after the call, if you're too unwell to work.

Can I get UTI treatment online?

Often, yes. If your symptoms suggest an uncomplicated UTI, a GP can assess you by phone or video and send an eScript where appropriate. Some people need a urine test first.

How quickly will I feel better?

Many people feel better within a day or two of starting treatment. If you're not improving, or you feel worse, contact a doctor again.

Do I always need a urine test?

Not always. It's usually needed for men, during pregnancy, for repeat infections, or when symptoms don't settle.

Can men get a UTI treated by telehealth?

A GP can assess you, but UTIs in men usually need a urine test and sometimes further checks.

What if I keep getting UTIs?

Your GP can look for triggers, arrange tests and discuss a prevention plan, or refer you on if needed.
