Can a GP help with pain over the phone?

Yes. Your GP can assess your pain, give advice that helps, prescribe where appropriate and refer you for physiotherapy or imaging.

Can you prescribe strong painkillers?

No. Teledoc doesn't prescribe Schedule 8 medicines or other strong painkillers by telehealth. Your GP can discuss other options and refer you.

Do I need a scan for back pain?

Most back pain doesn't need a scan. Your GP will refer you if there are signs that imaging will help.

Can I get a referral to a physio?

You don't need one to see a physio privately, but your GP can write one, which can help for some health funds or programs.

Can I get a certificate for back pain?

Yes, if the GP finds it appropriate. It's emailed after the consult.
