Why wait at a clinic when you're unwell?

Getting to a clinic when you're sick means travel, a waiting room and the chance of picking up something else. With Teledoc you stay in bed, talk to a GP by phone or video, and get your certificate by email.

Our certificates are issued by Australian-registered doctors and contain the same information as a certificate from a clinic, so they are accepted by employers, schools and universities across Australia.

Certificate types

The certificate you need

  • Sick leave certificate

For when you're unfit for work or study because of illness or injury. It covers the specific days you're unfit, and same-day appointments are available.

  • Carer's leave certificate

For when you need to care for a sick child, partner or parent. It confirms the need to care for a dependant and is accepted by HR as proof for carer's leave.

  • Clearance to return

Confirms you're no longer contagious or are fit to resume duties. Useful for returning to school, or for hospitality and healthcare workers after an infectious illness.

Will my employer accept an online medical certificate?

Yes. Our certificates are issued by Australian-registered health practitioners, are legally recognised and contain the same information as a certificate from a clinic.

Can I get a certificate for a past illness?

No. Doctors cannot certify days they did not assess. A certificate can cover today and, where appropriate, the expected rest of your illness. Discuss the dates with your doctor.

How much does a medical certificate cost?

The certificate is included in the standard consultation fee of $49.

Can I get a note for just one day off?

Yes. This is the most common reason people use our service. If you're unwell and unfit for work, book a consultation.

How many days can a certificate cover?

After a telehealth consultation, a certificate can cover a maximum of 3 days. If you're unwell for longer, the doctor may ask you to see a GP in person.

Do you provide certificates for workers' compensation?

No. Workers' compensation certificates need to be completed by your regular GP or treating doctor.
